Any paint guys on here?

I'm thinking about putting epoxy paint on the floor of my new shed. The only thing i'm worried about is will it handle welding sparks?

Costs? How to put it on? Recommended or not?

my bro painted his shed floor not to long ago, cost him about 2g for paint, was good quality stuff, i was welding my zook in there and it doesnt realy handle weld splatter to well it does leave burn marks, i think u will find this with most paints, so cover up before u weld or do it outside.

Use caution if/when you apply it, good ventilation and i'd still go a good mask of some sort. I know someone who got pretty srewed up mentally from working with this stuff over a few years.

Then buy a god product, Wattyl do good epoxy's, and like RockyF70, good ventilation and a vapour mask (about $40 for a filter, but worth it)

Vinyl has also been suggested, that would have these problems too. I don't think I will find anything that is going to stand up to burn marks. I'll be doing most of my welding on a table built for the purpose, but sparks & spatter will still land on the floor. And then there's the issue of welding on a vehicle etc. I'm not sure how to get around it other than throw something down on the floor (old sheet of vinyl?, sheet of ply/masonite?) when i'm welding, but kinda think that is going to be a PITA. Anyone have any suggestions???

Yeah, i'm pretty conscious of this sort of stuff. Most masks that I have seen are particulate only and wont stop this sort of vapour.

The concrete is brand new, but does have a few grease spots on it already I'll have a look at the Wattyl products, but what do you think of this stuff? oh, and where can you get those vapour masks from?!?

you will need to degrease and acid etch the concrete before applying any half decent protective coating system. look up your local Jotun paint rep and have a yarn. it should cost a damn sight less than 2 grand for paint. Your paint rep can also suggest a decent product for welding areas.
I've been out of the game far too long to suggest a coating system, so talk to someone who deals with this stuff on a daily basis. i wouldnt ask a 4wd'er how to do a root canal (apologies to the 4wd'ing dentists on this board)
Only reason I suggest Jotun is that (in my experience) theyre usually cheaper than wattyl/dulux for a comparable, if not better, product, my fathers still in that industry (corrosion technologist) and reccommends Jotun above all others for most situations, and they still use them today for the same applications youre looking at.
Get a Sundstrom painting mask with particle filter, charcoal canister and pre filters. Best on the market (i still paint cars now and again with mine). If you cant find a mask, let me know and I will get you a (good) price.

The company that does our contract maintenance completely cleaned and painted our workshop floors... The coating on the welding bay floor stood up to the challenge for about a fortnight, but that is subject to welding spatter for about 6hrs every day...
