84' Sierra, shifter stuck in 4H

Post by gecko270 »

I suppose a few have had this issue before. A mate of mine has an 84' Sierra that has it's shifter stuck in 4H after a weekends bash. He has unlocked the hubs so he can get around, but we have tried to reverse it a few yards and push the shifter in 2H with no luck.

Are there any other ideas on what could be done to free it short of having to drop the box and strip it?

Not 100% on the tech details but there is a plastic joint thingie on the shifter that can break. Mate of a mate had same problem and thats what he broke. His was an 80's model NT. Apparently he got stuck in 4 low 40km from home :D
