Jimmy Nylund*, who does tyre testing for (US) fourwheeler Magazine had a little sticker on the rear cross member of his flatty....
"If it don't run... chrome it"
Really, this is an off road forum - you might be better on a street machine forum is you need that sort of info.
*Jimmy Nylund emigrated to the US from Sweden in the late '70's, and somehow landed a job with Fourwheeler magazine. He was one of the real pioneers of rockcrawling and general hardcoreness. Along with Rick Pewe, Ned Bacon, Mike Flores etc, he was amongst the first guys to run 35+ tyres on jeeps and wide track width. Jimmy runs a Range Rover V8 in has flatty, quite a novelty in the US, especally pre '88 when you couldn't get a Range Rover in the US.
Steve.
