do 80 series have free wheeling hubs standard or is this a mod to be done

base model 80's eg DX have FWHs while the other models are constant 4wd. most people convert their full time 4wds to part time with special kits as this reduces wear to the steering and front drive components. some say their is a small saving in fuel consumption aswell.

having done the conversion myself i agree with all of the above. :D

how much for the free wheeling kits or can other model hubs bolt on eg.60 series

60 series fit, as do solid front end hilux. You need to fit an extra circlip in behind the original to keep the c/v away from the diff housing, or buy dx c/v's

for it to work correctly you need the specially machined gear to go in the transfer case, marks adaptors and a few others supply this kit complete with free wheeling hubs etc..

& it will cost's you about $600 for the kit

i was thinking of put coils under my 40 thats why im wanting free wheeling hubs that would mean i dont need the gear in the transfer case would it
