Anyone actually got a Ramsey 8000lb wired up?
For reasons best known to Ramsey, their installation diagrams specify 2 black wires instead of one red and one black on my winch model.
Mine was clearly not wired right when I bought it...
Rather not pop a solenoid finding out which should be which......

Ive got one. But I think mines a 6000lb one. Don't know for sure as there's nothing stamped on it. Mine works fine, slow but fine. And was really cheap.
As simkell says try it and see. will only go wrong way. But spool out some cable first.
I think the reason they use two black wires, is because they just switch power from one to the other to change direction. so either cable can be live at sometime.
Make sure you use the right gauge cables/connectors so you get good current flow and your battery/s is up to the job. eg, 650ah min.
