Bushwacker Cut out fender flares
Target Vehicle: Hilux LN65 86 single cab.
Info required: who has fitted these (bushwacker cut out flares or similar brand/style), how did they fit, did they give more clearance (obviously by cutting standard fender). I saw some a while ago on the CHAOS rig, but not sure if they were cut outs or just fit overs. Need to cover a wider front track without using great looking rubber flares (sarcasm) Are they glass or HD polyethylene or ABS? Only after front flares - see pic below

I looked into the bushwacker "cut out" flares for my Hilux.
The lux ones dont even require any cutting so they dont add any clearance at all!
They cover the tyres good though. They are HUGE!

And this is the guys who import them into Aus

Yeah, I've always liked the look of the cut outs, the cutouts exist, the larger glass guards don't (in production numbers), the price of cutouts is more affordable by comparison. I'm not too fond of the limitations of the cutout flares made for the Hilux (too small an opening), am looking for a flare from a larger rig (Ford or something with a large wheel opening) that I can reshape the glass if I need to, and allow for a cut guard.

Good article, thanks for the link.
I agree with the price and especially the practicality of rubber - but no bling - What about my show n shine aspirations?
I'm not a big fan of form over function (at least on this rig) but I will need to cover the tyres eventually, might as well make it look good in the process (yeah I like red painted diffs too...).

I agree, they do look good. But it's a lot of work to cut the guard, shape the steel extension, stitch them on, fill and shape the areas to make them look bling bling, prime and colour, when the steel can get smashed up easily. With the cut outs, I'd roughly cut the guard, seal the bare cut, nutsert the guards to attach the flares - all done. The glass is easily repaired when cracked, and won't deform as a steel flare extension does, a lot easier to repair because the glass retains it shape (within reason).
