If you had only one option....They seem too add up to around the same price....for a td42 gu dx. Running 35"s.

Option one. Ratios, Free flow exhaust and extractors, and bigger radiator.

Option two. Turbo system, non intercooled. No other mods.

The final current aim to keep a reliability in the engine under hot conditions, but to be able to turn 35"s with the same power of stock tyres.
Also keep the fuel down

Let us know whats work best for you.

i myself in a GQ had ratios extractors and free flowing exhaust and 35's, then i went and put on a turbo with free flowing exhaust, there are times running down a highway that i think, maybe i shouldnt have done the ratios, but i am happy with performance,

having it all helps with towing which i do a bit of now,

without the turbo it drove okay, cruised along on the flats well, when it cam to hills as always it lost a bit of speed, but it always depends how steep the hill is,

with the exhaust and ratios you might find it is bearable,

also depends what sort of off road work you do as to which option you might wanna take,

for eg:
if you plan on fitting rockhoppers later this year or next year id probably go with the turbo,

but if you have no intention of them, you might decide ratios will help as it will bring lowrange back to near standard, and exhaust will help with power a bit

Thats my thought, and the other is if I ran with ratios and exhaust, it's a more reliable set up. It does'nt have to be fast, just has to get me there.

realistically a turbo set up isnt unreliable, the big TD42's can handle a turbo setup quite well, the power you get out of them when the boos is set to a moderate 8-10psi id great

you ask anyone on here about reliability issues with a turbo and there wont be many,

my truck had 310,000 on it when i whacked a turbo on and its loving it, breathes better, temp is a bit lower, and your not revving it hard to keep speed on hills,

what type of wheeling do ya wana do? slow rock crawling? or high speed stuff?
i changed the ratios in mine cause the standard 4.1s were way too fast when i put 35s on and my clutch didnt like it much either

it has to be power that's why i put a 5ltr in the patrol on the road it will do speeds that it wasent desined to do scary some times but in the bush power wil beat gearing hands down nothing like going up a wet clay hill in top gear high range 4x4 on full song try that with your turbo diesel
