Mate you are doing a great job here  ,keep the good work, but you almost need your own sub section or own section all together ie on the main page where the differant model are....

maybe even have a sub menu where we can post questions to suit a certain make of truck...ie Rover , Toyota, Nissan etc so its much easyer to aply info to our own models. ;)

Just think it would be easyer to follow if we clean it all up a little....if it not to much of a headake or prob for the modurators etc :?

I know you can seach a section for tips on your model but doesnt always get all posts etc...

Just an Idea...waiting to get shoot down
mabye the moderators will read this and make a section for this topic
my phone number is on all my replies just maybe they might ring me to set that up

hey amshaw
the moderator did reply and your sugestion was good but the way the forum is set up does not allow for the changes
Mate it was worth a try I guess.....I know F all about setting up a site/Forum ....so I thought I would just ask the q.

I have a 2000 3.0TDi auto wagon.

I am about to put a performance exhaust on and I would like to know what you recommend.

Thinking of 3" pipes, 3" straight through GENIE muffler and Hi-flow CAT.

Would you go Hi-flow CAT or no CAT at all??

Would you put on a Hi-flow resonator??

Any assistance would be great.

hi there

you could go to a 3' system with a straight through muffler
as far as hi flow cats are concerned it is all a bit of a falacy
it is a bit like a larger piece of pipe
there is no difference in a ceramic brick inside the cat as there are only about 5 manafactures of the catalyce material in the world. and they are all made the same
the only difference is that you could possiably find a cat withh a much larger body which would give you more area to flow through

my sugestion for a cat woul be to go to a new large s/steel core cat these flow about 20% better than the older ceramic ones

having a resenator is up to you depends how loud you want it
but i dont think you will need one

try using a magnaflow muffler instead of a genie they are much stronger and better packed

ross

Thanks in advance.

i can tell you this will be way to loud
i would suggest a straight through muffler
with a petrol car u need som back pressure or your power and economy will suffer a lot
if it diesel you will not have a problem

Hi Mr EXHAUSTFIX,

I like your work on the forum.

I have 91 LWB GQ wagon running gas/LPG with what I believe is standard exhaust, there is no cat and the muffler is riddled with small rust holes but does not appear to be leaking yet and the pipe has a fair bit of corrorsion.

I recently put 33x12.5x15's on and lost some fuel economy (what's that on a GQ anyway!!) and power.

Given my exhaust is on the way out. What would be the best set up (are extractors worth it and what size pipe and muffler should I fit) to regain some economy and power without driving myself nuts with noise?

Cheers

hi

yes extractors are worth it

with your exhaust use 2.25" and large straight through muffler
supercat brand m8802 this is 11x6x18 long a very good str muffler
and a bm 443 resenator in the rear
this will give you good torque and power without noise

Thanks for your input to the forum EXHAUSTFIX.

I have a HZJ 75 cruiser with a naturally aspirated 1HZ. I would like to rearrange my exhaust to make space for some other things under the tray. Whilst I'm at it I would like to go the extractors and an exhaust upgrade. Someone else has already asked about this engine I know, the difference being, I would like the power and economy increases with the quietest exhaust noise possible whilst not defeating the purpose. Could you please include some specific brands and models of muffler in your reply. Thanks very much.

Hey Ross i know this is not 4wd related but thought i would still ask it
Have posted same ???? on Just Commodores

Looking at doing a exhaust system for the VX SS Commodore and was wondering what you recommend was thinking extractors/headers and then a 3 inch all the way through with hi flow cats are there any systems you can recommend as a complete front to back been looking at a few but there are so many that claim they are the best

Any help would be great :) :D :)

hi there as far as moving exhaust u might have trouble keeping it quite enough
because you need to run a special muffler in the front to reduce enough noise
i make this muffler and it has been designed for this very purpose but it will only fit in the original spot

If you have a standard engine 2.5" is plenty big enough for it you can run up to 500 hp through this size without power loss

then you can buy a good off the shelf system for it which shoult cost you no more then $500 fitted

Doc
Vehicle 80 series
Engine 4.5 Petrol

Recently modified the exhaust to make it run down the inside of the chassis rail.
Current sytem goes like this.
extracters, 2.5 inch through to standard muffler (ie. first mufler removed)then standard pipe finishing just past back wheel. (ie. final muffler removed).

Sounds rather tinny.
After a deeper sound but not real noisy with extra power.
What should I do.
Thanks in advance.

HI

I KNOW OF THE PROB YOU HAVE I DO A CONVERSION FOR THIS FOR LPGAS1 ON A LOT OFF 4WD THEY DO(OOPS) what you need is a speciel muffler that i get made for me to put in the front and then you nedeed to get the standard back muffler off a 100 series this combination works very well

Nice work Exhaustfix, keeping those exhaust shops honest.

Have a 83 lux with VN series 2 T700 auto, what would be the best set up for torque / power without having a drone.
Was recommended pace maker headers 2.5" pipe and tri-flow muffler in a single system.
Is a cat converter really needed? [ except for rwc ]

cheers

you could go up to 2.5" with this and use a larg straight through truck muffler in the front (m24250) and a good resonator in the rear(bm444)

this will give you max power and sound

expect to pay about $400 with extractor fitting

thanks for that, im assuming the resonator is the small muffler looking thing at the rear? is it nessacary to have a resonator and what exactly does it do? can it be removed all together or moved forward. the reason i ask is where it is at the moment its vulnerable to damage when dropping off big rocks

Thanks.

the muffler i have made is to go in the original spot on the rhside just before the diff
it is 7" round straight through with modified perf tube and extremly good packing but it onley comes in stainless steel this muffler cost $380
for the rear try to get hold of a genuine 100 series cruiser rear muffler and expand the inlet size
if you want this front muffler ring me i will have to get freight prices
