Relays in an 83 RR

Post by 6.5 rangie »

Can anyone tell me what the 2 Lucas relays in the engine bay are for near the main fuses, i think they are for ignition and the other is to do with brake warning system or something. Am i correct?
Mine has been partially rewired and they have changed the color codes on me, could trace it all out but easier to ask.

Thanks Damien

All the engine bay wiring is gutted at the moment so its a bit hard, rewiring it due to relocating the batteries to the rear.

One of the relays is the starter relay as you said. I never did find out what the other one was for but on mine it was not being used. I dont think it was for the brake warning but it could have been for the horn???? Sounds stupid but this was the only thing could think of as mine did not have an original horn.
Thanks,

Relay just near lefthand rocker cover at the back of the engine bay is Starter Relay. From memory, i think the other is The rear demister relay. NOw its gutted, good time to replace the Prince of Darkness loom and 4 fuse box with something better...
