Advice need. Gq lifted
Advice need. Gq lifted
I have just lift my swb GQ 2" with coil springs and shocks. While i pass the 80km/h and press clutch or release the diesel pedal i hear a vabriation. Also the steering wheel is lighter now. Do i have to lower the gear box? For the steering wheel i have to replace the shock with a competetion or place 2 degree caster angle. Thnx. Waitig for your answers.
hey mate the vibration sounds like it is coming from the tail shaft if you want a cheap fix then put a set of gear box packers in, allthought his kind of makes the lift pointless ( as your just lowering what you have raised). Other option which works is to put 16mm longer lower trailing arms in the rear, this roatates the diff slightly and cnages the angle on the rear uni joints. I went the trailing arms first when i had 2 inch lift, then went to 3 inch and now im running gear box packers two. The steering sounds like castor problems, Does the car feel like its on tram tracks sometimes and does it follow the camber of the road and bump steer alot, if so then get a 4 wheel balance and align as this will tell you how much castor correction you need and then the cheap option is to fit bushes the the radius arms. If you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask.

that im not to sure of but i have a mate that runs 16 x 8inch rims on a gu patrol wagon and they are alloys, he drives very hard and has never maneged to do any damage to the rims. so i would think that it would be ok why 10 inch rims they seem really wide, you can run almost all tyres up to about a 36x13.5 on an 8 inch rim

i agree. i wouldnt use gearbox packers as i reckon they put to much strain on engine mounts and exhaust use the arms and castor plates. it works for me i dont have anyy vibration at allmudmav wrote:hey mate the vibration sounds like it is coming from the tail shaft if you want a cheap fix then put a set of gear box packers in, allthought his kind of makes the lift pointless ( as your just lowering what you have raised).
