TB 42 dissy recurve, who's the best?

Post by henry »

Iv'e got a TB42 on LPG and have recently purchased a pertronix ignitor to fit up. I want to get the most out of the engines performance and fuel economy. I want to get the dissy recurved to suit gas as this is what i run 90% of the time. Who does this mod and with what results have people got from it?

Cheers, Nik.

Get onto Performance Ignitions in Mitcham, they said they would help me do this when the time came as i want to turbo my TB on LPG.
Have you found any improvement with the Petronix? I am yet to go electronic but want to know if it improves economy, assuming you also have a stock exhaust and manifold.

I have the Petronix Mark 1 and since I have installed it, I have now a very reliable igniton system. It starts very easy, a mate who owned a 4.5 Cruiser on gas said, "It starts very easy". :D

Strong spark and smoother idle. Not sure about the economy, I just like the fact that it starts , idles and revs smooth. I rarely exceed 3,000 rpm anyway.

Hey brunsy, just fitted the pertronix this afternoon. Took it for a test drive, first impression the motor felt stronger, more torquey. Still no race car but an improvement. I also fitted a HEI coil and opened up the plug gaps to 1mm. Everything helps. A turbo would be good but my mate had issues with turbo and LPG giving flat spots. See what happens. I might just limit my centrifugal advance and set the static higher.

Cheers, Nik.
