need help buying a 1984 sbw na

Post by humph4x4 »

Hey all.

Im new to this forum. An just have a few quetions.

1. Im looking at buying a 1984 Pajero swb Na. Its an import. It has a 2.3L turbo diesel. Has done 156,000K's an buy the looks of the photo in very good condition.

Is there anything i need to look out for when i go to look at it?
Are these good 4wd's? Eg: reliable
What go's wrong with them?

Any help would be good thanks.

I had an 85 swb petrol nb. I think that they are a totally under rated 4wd. But it depends what you are looking for and what kind of driving you want to do.

duno much about the na model and have never seen a 2.3l td but i know with a bit of lift and some 31's they can suprise alot of bigger rigs.

the engines seem to get 300 000l's befor mAJOR PROBLEMS tho u may find it harder to get parts for the 2.3l being a rare motor

I had an NA 1984 paj with 2.6L petrol. Main problems i had was rust (specially under the tail lights) and the auto-lock hubs locking and unlocking when they feel like it. Other than that it was a fun reliable toy. Dunno much about the Diesels though. Also mine was standard and had 31x10.5's and went just about anywhere :D
