Warn M8000 info (reviews)?

Post by mistaboz »

Had a search but couldnt really come up with the answers I was looking for...

I have a 93 Sierra with an ARB winch bar.
Just deciding on what winch to go for at the moment.

Looking at either a...
Premier 6000 pound from TJM or
Warn M6000 or
Warn M8000.

A mate has the Premier on his Sierra and it seems to work well.
Just deciding wether or not it is worth spending the extra money to get a Warn.
The M6000 has a higher current draw than the Premier but the M8000 has a lower current draw at 6000 pounds.
The M8000 is also the same size and weight as the 6000 pound Warn and not that much more expensive. Also features better gearing.
The Premier has a 3.6hp motor with about 256:1 gear ratio, the M6000 has 4.8hp motor with 156:1 gear ratio and the M8000 has 4.8hp motor but with 216:1 gear ratio's.

Any help and info is appreciated.

Cheers Paul

youve done your research paul

The warn has been around for years so you know its gonna work. A premier is also a good winch though. An M8000 on front of the zook will have plenty of pulling power and Warn had been aorund for yonks so its proven. Your choice.

The M6000 has the fastest pull out of all of those. The M6000 is just as fast as a high mount.

I run a Chinese 6000lb one on my Sierra and it pulls fine (But Bloody Slow).

Ron, about $200 between the M6000 and the M8000.
The M6000 I have been quoted at $1250.

You're right the M6000 does have quick line speed.
Although the M8000 is only ever really 1/2 metre behind the M6000 at different loads.

Guess the M8000 is a little more piece of mind.

Thanks for the replies.

Any other opinions?
