Just removed carby, stripped down and cleaned eveything possible.Put carby back on and it started and went to fast idle and choke partly open.Looking good.Warm and a 5k drive all ok.Then yesterday arvo started up no fast idle choke closed and virtually raw fuel getting dumped down its throat.I now have got the sh**s big time after reading about these carbys and idiosyncrosies so Im after a corolla carby but I need to know exactly what model so when I go to the wreckers I know Im getting the right one to suit my heap of crap.Fuel consumption was 60k for 1/4 tank as the fuel was getting dumped down its gutsan dno the float level is correct.

Im not sure if the flow rate and ratios will work but a 1600 gemi carby bolts up to a zook manifold I will be trying this in the next week or so to see if every thing else lines up or can be made to line up, l
Toy carb is easy to do. Both carbs are made by aisin so bits can be swapped around like fuel inlet.
Carb is bolt on but U need some studs and nuts to bolt carb down as it does not use the bolts as per zook carb. choke is manual if needed,(i did not connect on mine)
Mild hammering/ modding for the acc bracket for cable to fit correct.
Tune after to suit motor.
Not had any of the usual probs that zook carbs have.
Can get photos if needed.

By design a carby will flood if the angle is severe enough. Some are just better than others. I wouldnt of though a vit carby would be a huge improvement over a Sierra one flooding wise. Or it can also lean out too, as the fuel can flow away from the jets too.

You may be right, I wouldn't know personally i've just read and heard from mechanics allot lately that they have a flooding advantage and that the 1.3 carburettor restricts the engine in terms of performance.

Sorry guys,I couldnt get back to thank you for your input,Had to take wife to hospital.Anyway you have answered my query and I now have a good idea of what to get.As i stated the f***ing thing was just dumping fuel down the throat and you couldnt drive of for 4 to 5 minutes and it was pi**ing me off.

Yeah i guess they are talking extreme angles, i mean it's not really a common problem. Did you put the vit carb on a 1.3?They will still flood .. you just have not been off camber enough to do so .. I didn't find the Vit carb much better than the sierra carb for that purpose

I had the 1.3 carb on a 1.3 and a vit carb on a vit 1.6 (in my sierra)
It was on both a 1.3 and 1.6 manifold.

not to hijack but have you considered the weber carby?
i run one and with a few simple float mods it only floods on real steep downhills. up hill and side angles are no problem and you get a decent power improvement aswell.
(weber carby must be mounted with float bowl closer to firewall)
