Type of tyres (don't mean brand)

Hi,

I do about 50:50 onroad/offroad driving, and am what sort of new tyres to get, i.e. A/T's or M/T's. Offroad driving is usually in bush tracks, some rocky trails, and very rarely on the beach.

Another question: Is it better to get:
- cheap and nasty tyres cos they'll only get cut/chipped/staked
- get good quality to help avoid cutting/chipping/stakings

From what i have seen the chipping/cutting happens on either cheap or expensive. I have remoulds on the zook and mate has bfg muddies on the the cruiser, he goes through tyres like nothing and driving same terrain.

Go for something middle of the road and maybe an aggressive all terrain is what u need. maybe a MTR would be ok. they seen to be the pick at most terrain except sloppy mud.

MTR's sound like a good choice for you. Often cheap tyres are easily damaged due to less sidewall strength. Before you pay anything for any kind of tyre, look at its construction, and see if you can get a ride or even a drive of a rig running these tyres. This will give you a much better idea of what you want than any internet forum. Searching here will also reveal heaps of threads about tyres, while some of them are just crap, others will give you a good idea of what tyres work where, and thei strength.

is that coz the cruiser weighs double the zook?

get some muddies, or mt/r's if theres more gravel/rock than mud.
atr's are for dirt roads, not offroading
