whats better ? Suzi or Nissan

Post by CWBYUP »

Just tossing up between to 4b's for my first truck.

A LJ80 or a nissan.

what are the pros and cons within 12 months either will get a massive make over so they both be good down the track.

Both are in pretty much the same state.

both same price I'm thinking suzi spoa hilux or nissan diffs and it would be an ok truck ?

whats the thoughts ???

you have to figure out how much your budget is for petrol as the nissan will be more demanding on petrol but in saying that the nissan will have a lot more power than the LJ80, if you want you could price what needs to be done for it to do what you want..
nissan depending if its coil or leaf
coil off the shelf lift kit, lockers and some bigger shoes will get you alot of places, basicly the same with the Leaf suspension nissan

the zook i find with a little bit of work are very capable and cheaper to run but after doing a quick google search the LJ80 is a very short car and once doing a SPOA it will be very top heave with out stretching the wheel base, i think to get the LJ80 to perform well more money will be needed but it dependson what you want to do for 4wdin also if in the future you will want to do an engine upgrade as it will all add up on the cost

but the think that will get most input is if you say what you want out of it, what type of ig you after, hardcore tracks, extreme, hard , mediem, easy or what!!

Those 2 are a bit like chalk and cheese, anything you want for the suzi will have to be homemade where as with the nissan ? there will be more more parts available for it. Suzi would be good as a paddock basher or beach cruiser, stick a corolla motor in it for some more poke.

There's plenty of LJ80 bits around - it doesnt need to be homemade.

Better off buying a sierra though - parts for them are so easy to find and very very cheap.

I'm assuming based on price range that you're looking at an MQ as well.

Both goood honest trucks.

yeah its a 81 nissan sprung. either way i would cage it and spoa, if i go the suzi i was thinking hilux diffs and stregth the wheel base a bit with some 35's and lockers nothing stupid but something that would be reasonable capable.

my thoughts on the nissan were bigger heavier truck , more fuel need more power, the suzi lighter need less poer to get the same set up into the same places ?

Does that sound about right ?

Go the suzi just for the fun factor and it will go further than you think as well. My dad had al lj80 and it was the only 4X4 he's never been bogged in!
