Lj80 / holden Drover ?

Post by CWBYUP »

Not real sure of this and cant find any info in the bible.

I have a lj80 and there's a body that looks the same size and shape with holden drover stickers on it at the local wreckers.

Can some one give me some info as to if this is likely to be the same thing or am i having a blonde moment :?:

Couldnt open the bonnet to se what was on the ID tags.

Just thought spare body    paint and cage it while i'm still driving the other one.

Cheers Nick

Drover is a narrow track 1.3 Sierra rebadged.
The Sierra bodies are wider than the LJ80.
They have Wider diffs/axle housings.
In my opinion it could be done, but no real advantage for the amount of work.

A lot of serious Sierra owners like to put an LJ front on, so there is more tyre room.

If the 2 bodies look the same, then you don't have an LJ80 you'd have a Sierra?

People do swap parts about for many reasons, including badges, for looks and/or function.

If it looks the same shape, it is likely to be an LJ80 (4stroke 800cc at stock) or an LJ50 (500cc 2 stroke at stock) but a lot of early LJ owners modded the trucks.

Ok now i will try to treat this post seriously
Do you have an LJ80 ?
Image

If you saw one of these then it would just be someone putting stickers on the LJ80
OR

Do you have a sierra and saw one with drover stickers and square headlights?

no lj would be badged as a drover from factory,

someone may have put the badges on it, but if it looks like an lj its most likely an lj, not much come close to the good old lj style!
