I currently have a NH swb with all the riz raz that my partner drives daily but she has now put the foot down for a new one. Unfortunately we have to reach a compromise so a later model swb is being searched for. Are their any major drawbacks with the late model shorties (as in, do ARB make rear lockers, winchbars, is body lifting the same as NH etc...) I am not a real fan of the puffy guard model but she wants leather and of course automagic transmission... Does anybody have any pics or know of any NL's that are not STOCK.... Any help is appreciated.. Will post my rig for sale soon.

i know they are expensive cause they are as rare as hens teeth. I'm 99% sure you can't get a locker for it if it has the 3.5l v6 motor in it but not sure at all if they so one for the diesel. Bullbars and stuff are all available and body lifts are the same as yours now. i know that putting wider tyres on can be difficult in regards to getting flares to cover them which fit onto those squarish guards. hey pm me about how much you gonna sell you car for. interested to know how much we could get for our model.

I've only ever seen maybe 3 in the wild and 1 Exceed SWB on a car lot. It had the Triple Diamond Pack with the factory rear locker and adjustable shocks but I remember nearly falling over when I saw the price.

Pajs do not have a lot of kit available anyway, standard touring stuff but nothing harder. Keep an eye out for an NL LWB, leave it stock for the shopping trolley and keep the one you have now aswell. If it's covered in kit it ain't gunna be worth squat on a trade-in anyway.
V8 and SAS the old one and hit Tuff truck next year. That'll piss the big boyz off ...

Grant the late model 3.5 V6 shorties are very rare and expensive.
Basically the front super select diff is the same as the earlier models so a Detroit or the new ARB locker will fit.
The rear there is no ARB locker for but I did hear a little whisper............
One option for the 3.5 V6 is to swap a 3.0 V6 rear axle assembly which takes an ARB locker but I'd get heavy duty axles cut for the extra grunt. Or if you could source a 3.5 V6 rear factory locker assembly and swap that in.
The 3.5 V6 and 2.8TDI have a 30mm factory body lift over the 3.0 V6, this is achieved by the body mounts being welded higher on the chassis rail. Park yours next to a 3.5 V6 and compare, it's very noticeable.
The 3.5 V6 has a bigger and slightly different t/case than the 3.0 V6 and the 5sp gearbox has a bigger bellhousing. Beware of the 3.5 V6 5sp as the only clutch replacement is a genuine (around $1000) there are no aftermarket kits (unless you get a custom job).
I'd definitely go the 3.5 V6 SOHC over the DOHC as they have better low end torque and a tad easier to work on. The DOHC also had the dreaded throttle body bushing failure resulting in some of the mechanism making it's way into the plenum then a cylinder Not plague proportions but something to be aware of.

Thanks for the info. Priorities..................I sold her car recently to buy myself a highway car and gave her the Pajero. Unfortunately she does not like driving the "truck and bus" as she calls it... She likes the NL shorty or the vitara... I would much rather buy her the paj.. I asked the question because I was curious for future mods. We dont 4x4 as much as we use to so its more for an on road car but I would like the ability to build it if I want... She pays for the new one so price is not much of an issue......to a degree....(she would not come to the party on the Evo Pajero)!!!!!!! May keep the old paj if no one shows interest anyway.
