Air tank

done a search but no answers so here goes.just wondering peoples thoughts about a tank setup with my rig. its a 75 series tray so lots of room 4 a big one im running 33 x11.5 jt and got an arb commpresser fitted under the bonnet. i know its not the fastest so thats why im wondering if it worth it as it will take a long time to fill the tank up . for the time i save with the air already in the tank is it worth the trouble as dought i will fill all up.

Your ARB is probably not the best choice for what you want to do. I used to run a single blue tongue compressor and trhought it was fine for reinflating tyres. And it was. Slow but it worked. You may think you have no reason for air other than to pump up tyres occasionally, and at the moment that may be right, because you don't have the air to use. Once you get a decent tank and compressor you find things to use the air for. It makes things easier, like changing a tyre with a rattle gun, blowing water out of a dizzy or mud out of the radiator or dust out of the CD player!..

yeah no its not the best but dont want to spend money on another setup just yet saving for lockers and a highmount. with lockers down the track thats y i got the arb.

If you leave the compressor running while driving upto when you are going to want to inflat them and have a pressure relief valve on there it should be fine. As said wont be fast, btu if the tank is filling while your driving it wont matter

yeah i understand that but im going to be using it at the end of the day so if the comp wont keep up to the tank is it worth haveing one

been thinking how big would the tank need to be to air all 4 tyres from 20 psi to 35psi1 the tanks ive been looking at are rated at 120

don't know what size tyres you're running but say you have 33-12.50's you'll need about 60l at 120 psi. That's a big tank. The ARB isn't designed for filling that sort of tank and if you run it for half an hour trying to get from 100 to 120 psi it wont last long.

was thinking of filling it with the compresser in the shed before i leave home as we do mostly day trips. but a 60l tang might take up a bit much room
