I should have my truck up & running for the second round. The cabs a little secondhand but we need to run it before the XI in september. The most epensive part of the rollover was the 2 altermators going through the bonnet. Enough bitch'in back to work!!!

Been working on the middy for the last two weeks haven't done a thing to it since the logan challenge and the 8 day. Thought it was time to blow the dust off and get the old bus ready. Thought I would throw some money at the injector pump because it was running pretty sluggish. Gave it to Shane at DPIS two weeks before comp. He said only need two days to fix so I allowed a week. Bad news because it is an imported engine no parts listed in australia. coming ex singapore. should arrive in adelaide today, caboolture wednesday, pickup thursday, fit thursday night. gee this leaves a lot of time for test and tune. could have been worse parts out of japan wouldnt see them until december so all rides on getting the pump thursday. hope to see you all there.

Thought you were gunna say "introduce the new baby to his dad". :D

So pics, report, etc.

I know steve Pickering had winch issues very early in the peice but that is all I've heard.
Cheers

yep, we either snapped the main shaft or took the teeth off the gears on our first stage friday night. major effort to get my winch out plus no spares so we just withdrew and came home to win some brownie points (wife's birthday on saturday).

Blackers and Andy were having electrical/winch motor problems.

Piglet had axle problems before getting going.

The dual cab yellow Patrol also snapped a main shaft on the winch and a CV.

Think there were some troubles on track 1 also before I left.

I am selling upgraded high strength main shafts as part of the dual motor conversion for the warn 8274, if you are interested in having your winch modified to suit let me know.

Stop mucking around with the metallurgy of the shaft and you will reduce the chance of wrecking it. Instead of softening it to drill and tap the end and then re-hardening it just grab a stainless M6 or M8 socket head countersink screw and TIG weld it directly to the end of the shaft. I did this on my High Mount to fit the circlip retainer and it never failed. Ok I grant you I was only holding a Sierra and I never tested it on my Rangie however the tensile strength should be adequate especially if you machine the retainer to support the circlip and run a close tolerance to the edge of the brake so as to reduce the shockload if the circlip does let go. I saw a couple pop on the weekend and I am pretty sure Rod Reardon was one as well.
