Hey guys,

just a quick question...

if i was to do a body lift on my MK SWB - what would be a suitable material to use as the blocks on which to lift? Nylon??? i was gong to get the nylon or whatever material you recomend turned down at work on the CNC lathe.

Another question is - How big of a body lift is suitable? would 3" be too much? or am i better off keeping it 2"? iv currantly got a 2" suspension lift but need more room for some 33"'s

I would go with 2" for the body lift!
Last Mq we did with nylon blocks with crush tube fitted, the only thing that didnt quite line up after that was the 4wd selector which needed a slight bit taken out of the floor for or you could bend it!
When do ya plan on doing it?

Thanks for the info,

I was planning on doing it when i got all my materials together and got time to machine it etc. no real rush really.

im aware that a few modifications are required after the lift is inplace (fuel filler, selector and something bout radiator fan? or something???)

its either i make it or just buy the kit with blocks and bolts etc.

is it a hard operation to carry out? what sort of time am i looking at?

2 will be fine... i can clear 33's with just a 2" body lift and old stock suspension... with slight scrubbing at full lock/ flex

when going bigger than 2" im pretty sure you have to start doing more stuff to make it work...

i also had to cut some of the floor for my stubby stick, and extend my fuel fuller... also watch your clutch line, mine is rather streched because of this... possibly loosen your steering aswell, as it may want to move.

Its not that hard of an operation to carry out.
Its quite simple once u start and if you take your time.
Id be wary of buyin a kit because last time we did a navara with a kit the bolts werent right so had to buy the bolts ourself, if you can do without your car for a weekend and you have it apart on a friday nite/ saturday you will be able to get all your bolts you need on the saturday.

i hear also brake lines may need to be extended? i guess all trucks are diff in regards to what needs to be changed, so i'll just have to wait and see... :oops:

is this mod even legal in QLD? not that i really care, but will it be a noticable defect if i were to be pulled over?

Yes this mod can be made legal in queensland, you need to get a certificate from the department of transport for it, they inspect your car and want to know what you have modified to make it stronger after lifting the body off the chassis and things like steering linkages.
Can get some info off a mate who went through and did it all if you want!

Don't put in a body lift, just stick with the lift you already have and trim the guards to make the tyres fit. :)
