hey guys just abotu to start doin my half doors for the lux. i have done a rough mark out of them but wanted to know if anyoen has any pics of them they coudl post up. i dont know whether or not to build like a fram inside it to add strength to the door or not what do u guys reckon? hope u can see the pics alright

Maybe try bending up some 10mm round bar to the desired shape and weld to the inside edge of the inner and outer skins... this will add strength and also give you something to weld the new cover strip to.

Round edges don't hurt so much when you bash em with your elbow ;)

not a bad idea bu i think i will be making an inner frame for the taop half of where i am cuttign to give it strength with jsut some 3mm plate welded onto it with the edges rounded off. Might even add a stubbie holder pirate style lol was chattin with 83 lux abotu it today and the lower half of the door is gonna be turned into a storage area type thing. bit hard to explain will try and find a pic of what i mean

like this one but with more of an opening and a higher bottom edge so i can fit more carp in there and save it rollin around everywhere

are u plannin on runnnin those doors all the time or only when u go wheeling... im in the process of makin half doors also and am tossing up different ideas for hinges....any thoughts on what to use???

lol was meant to be crap but anyway...i'm jsut gonna be runnign the standard hinges and leavign the outside door handle on with no handle or lock. they are goin to jsut be for weekends away wheeling which is pretty much all its gonna get used for anyway when i finish the full rebuild on the hilux

My cruiser has hinges where there is a fixed pin that locates the two sides of the hinge. Cut/drill(whatever you have to) to get this out...... neatly!! ;) And make up a slightly longer removable pin that slides in from the top. This way it is a quick 10 min job to swap doors... if that!!!

I fully sealed mine and also keeped the upper frame to make up a clip on window
still got to make up a inner trim

i like them doors 4sum4 mine will be very similar except wihtout the top frame and leaving the outside handle wiht no internal one.. how much of a hole did u have to fill to cover where the original out side latch came off?

i just went to the bolt shop with a hinge and said i want 4 bolts to go where the moving bit is and stong enough to handle a door....came back with 4 bolts and washes and nuts....fits nicely...

About 1/4 of it,I used a peice that i cut out to get the right shape back in
