Landcruiser 1997. good buy?
Hey I'm looking at a 1997 Landcruiser with 300,000k's+ being a newer vehicle is 313,000 way to many? It's going cheap and i'm just not sure how many more k's I'd expect out of it. Its got a service history and oil changes every 5k. it's 4.2 diesel.

My cruiser has the same 1hz motor, now has 307km's on it, its a late 95 model. But if you didn't look at the odometer, you'd swear it hadn't travelled half those km's. Everything still feels new/tight and everything works like new. Its just the difference between many country km's and other cars doing fewer but harder city km's.BadLux wrote:Hey I'm looking at a 1997 Landcruiser with 300,000k's+ being a newer vehicle is 313,000 way to many? You have to drive it and see for yourself at the end of the day...

I got a 1HZ-T with 400,000km's on it. country car the guy had it for 12 years. It had all reciepts and service history. Even the receipt where the Big end bearing had been done at about 270k but you wont need to worry about them for a 1hz.
Just check it over talk to the owner, always sleep on it and go back the next day to have another look at it while you make up your mind.
At 313k when were the injectors, pump, timing belt last done?

Yeah i'm picking it up on sunday, what are good things to look for with the 80 series? I mean i know taking it for a drive then checking for any oil leaks, feeling 1st and 2nd synchros with the box, checking panel work hinges, window sills, checking swivel hubs, brakes, taking oil cap off and checking for blow by, taking radiator cap off and checking for bubbles, feeling hoses,
What else should be done when A) inspecting a 4by,
B) in particular inspecting an 80 series
