Cleaning sensors

Post by sudso »

Is is safe to clean all the sensors that are under the bonnet with CRC Contact Cleaner? e.g. MAF, idle position sensor etc.

I ask because I've heard that sensors are very sensitive to foreign media that can ruin them, other than the media that they are designed to detect e.g. air, exhaust.

For example, my auto sparky has told me not to let silicone any where near sensors as the fumes will ruin the sensor part and stuff their ability to send correct readings.

thanks
