Brakes slipping

Post by Murray »

Brakes on a 1999 100 series (petrol) slip just before stopping. Brakes work normally but at the last second just before completely stopping it releases or lunges forward. But always pulls up. Pads and rotors are in good condition. Any ideas? What should I look for? Could it be the proportional valve?

not likely the proportioning valve, do you have abs? this may be causing your brakes to release slightly.

I vaguely remember something at a training night for work about 100 series cruisers having a dot 5 brake fluid (silicon based) not like your dot 3.4. apparently it stuffs the brake components - might be something to look at. or see your dealer.
