I had a body lift in my GU and had no worries with it
I have heard that some places don't like doing GU's because they're so much heavier.
i have the blocks as I have just pulled them back out as I'm selling it. PM me if your interested in the blocks. You have to chase up some bolts tho

It will be fine as long as your 4wd is roadworthy.4Speed wrote:I know this topic has been talk about before, But my 98/99 Gu does'nt have air bags and My insurance company said its fine for a max of 2" body lift. If you get it engineered (if required in your state) & you have informed your insurance company & have it in writing than you will be fine.
Cheers Mick.
It puts the body out of wack with the airbag sencers which can cause the airbags to go off for no reason or not go off at all when you really need them.Swerve wrote:What's the problem with a BL and airbags ?
I have a stock GU and from my last car 1989 Pathfinder I have some 2" BL blocks !

I originally had the airbags disabed when i had the body lift in (fuse pulled)
After pulling the body lift back out a year later I re-fitted the fuse....
Last night I found that they didn't work after hitting a tree @ 60kms/hr... ouch!

Was listening for a noise I thought i could hear in the back and must have veered slightly to the left. THe tree was rught up against the gutter. Still a bit sore.
Anyways.. was talking to Nissan, and they saythat the airbags sensors are inside the CPU. Ther reason they didn't go off was probably due to hitting the passenger corner and not front on or from the drivers side.
With the sensors inside the CPU can't see what putting in a body lift would do to change anything. The next truck I'll get will be a GQ and I wont have to worry about any of this stuff.

Something was faulty becuase airbags go off caused by shock i'm 90% sure. Thats why some sencers are in the dash such as some new Mazdas. If you hit anything anywhere in the front of the patrol at 60km/h the airbags should have gone off. I'm thinking the reason they didn't go off was because you pulled the fuse than refitted it. When you do this i'm pretty sure the computer needs to be reset so the airbags will work again.
Cheers Mick.
