was looking in to putting one of those 6.5 chevs in a while back & spoke to both brunswisk & linquip diesels & aparently the 6.5 is an easier swap than the 4.2, but thats goning in to a 2.8 gu

Is it Auto or manuel. Should be relativly easy.

$23 for a 6.5 chev? i did it for under $10 . a 6.5 is not that hard to fit. a 6.5 turbo is a bit more work. a good td4.2 turbo goes pretty good but a 6.5 turbo well, :) there are also the diffs to consider, 4.6's in a 2.8, no good for the v8's. you will need 4.1/3.9's. and the gear box, as the 2.8 is smaller than the 4.2. but the 4.5 petrol auto is the ideal doner, auto with 3.9 diff's. . this would be a lot easer, the radiator out lets are on the right side for the chev but not the 4.2. they may need the chassis mounts swapped, as the 2.8 is different and the chev it is best to use new ones. just my two bob worth, cheers Phill.
