4.2td into Gu
4.2td into Gu
I am just wondering if nebody knows if it is possible to fit a td42 late model GU motor instead of the 4500 petrol?? i own a 1998 GU wagon if this helps or do i just get a 6.5 chev turbo?? cheers josh
Re: 4.2td into Gu
$23k for a Chev conversion.. much cheaper for the TD42T....
$23 for a 6.5 chev? i did it for under $10 . a 6.5 is not that hard to fit. a 6.5 turbo is a bit more work. a good td4.2 turbo goes pretty good but a 6.5 turbo well,
there are also the diffs to consider, 4.6's in a 2.8, no good for the v8's. you will need 4.1/3.9's. and the gear box, as the 2.8 is smaller than the 4.2. but the 4.5 petrol auto is the ideal doner, auto with 3.9 diff's.
. this would be a lot easer, the radiator out lets are on the right side for the chev but not the 4.2. they may need the chassis mounts swapped, as the 2.8 is different and the chev it is best to use new ones. just my two bob worth, cheers Phill.
