different between zuk diff ,ratio's & front & back,w

Post by elado »

i'm thinking about 3" bodylift & a richmond lockright diff. I'm not which to do first.I don't what type of diff is in my" 85 1.3 lwb nt" and if richmond lockright diff is the same between the different zuk diff's , ratio's & front & back wt nt ect. I think it will be the lockright as it will let me go a lot more places. Can anyone help me with what diference there is in these diff's

85 1.3 lwb nt will have 3:9 diffs with 4 pinion carriers, if it is stock.
WT has 3:7 with 4pinion rear and 2 pinion front.
ratios are same front to rear on all Sierras.

richmond locker should fit all 1.3 zooks.
1.0 zooks have a 4:1 diff that is not same as 1.3's.
Hence will have a different locker.

The only major difference front to rear on sierras is splines for axles, rear are different count, bigger than front. Depends on type of locker if this matters. If its type that replaces side gears, it has to be correct, if not it would be type that reuses original side gears and would suit either end.

I have a power trax locker in my front, and it's good so far. Mines a 1983 1.0LWB

The Richmond lockrites use the origional sidegears, so the spline should not be a problem. But, to fit a lockrite to the front, you have to have a 4 pinion gear diff, which apparently is simple as swapping a rear carrier in, assuming the fronts are infact 2 pinion geared.
They are extremely easy to install, i just put one in my rear diff.

Do sierra diffs have any marking on the outside around the yoke or any where else, like GMH have?

I can't even notice the locker, until I'm in 4wd. So I can leave hubs locked when I don't want to get out and unlock them.

I don't think diffs have markings, but don't know. Best to count the teeth on pinion and crown to be sure.
