Cracked shock tower!

Post by ashhash »

Hey all

I discovered today that the left hand shock tower has cracked around the strut...has anyone else had this happen??

It hasnt been offroad for ages and seems to have happened out of the blue, looks pretty flimsy really!

Any recommendations on a fix?
Im planning to get a nice fat washer welded on top of the tower.

you own a coily??

Mine has done the same thing twice. Its a design floor. Also check all of the brackets that mount your trailing arms to your diffs. These also tend to crack/ snap on the coilies :bad-words:

Nah I dont think so, they are identical to the stock ones (KYB)
They've been on for about 12mnths without problem, it just looks like metal fatigue

The other side is fine too..

Yeah a washer will work for a while.

You really need to change the shock tower and strut and put in something more reliable.
