*WANTED* INFO ON CARBY/MIXER ON LPG SET UP ON GQ(with pics)

Post by bucketofbolts »

just wanting to know where the mixer sits on the carby, to run duel fuel, the mixer i have, has a throttle cable set up and so does the throttle body,

its a 300A impco mixer, and standard 1990 GQ carby, ( not fuel injected),

any help would be good, or pics, thanks

would this work, a mate has it on his 60 seriers, or do i have to stay with the 300A impco

I'm a bit confused ?
The top pic looks like a straight gas throttle body and mixer in one ?
You'll need to seperate the top section and mount it to your carby. (unless you want to run straight gas)

The bottom pic is just a simple spud style mixer - which IMO - shit all over the fancy carby top type mixer setups.

Use the 300A which is the top section and buy an adapter that connects it to the Nissan GQ Carby.

The bottom pic is a ring type mixer used with the Euro type systems. No good to you if you are gonna run impco setup.

Looks like you still need a few parts to get either to work, the gas ring on the bottom i dont think will fit a gq carby as i think they have a rectangular top ?
The impco system is dead simple and work well on dual fuel.

There are 3 screws on the top of the lower section of the mixer, you can see the round head in the top pic almost central near the diaphram. On the third pic you can just see the hex head below the yellow edge of the diaphram.

Yes, now you need an adapter and a filter housing .

dual fuel

Post by Chook350 »

If you decide to run dual fuel get the electronic ignition upgrade for the dizzy otherwise you will forever have probs with the points. genral rule of thumb choose what fuel you will run 99% of the time, ie: lpg or petrol and tune the engine for that fuel, timing diffrences will make a lot of diffrence to power and economy
