Hi there all
Well I have a question for the jeep owners - as I am a potential buyer.
I have always had a soft spot for the jeep - small, coil sprung, soft top option & reasonably powerful 6 cylinder engine - and they are now getting around my price range 10-15k.
What are they like on fuel - economy wise. and is there anything thing else I should watch out for within the second hand market - or to steer clear off.
I hope some one is able to help - or may know of one for sale?
theres no harm in asking
Wayne

so you want a TJ wrangler.
they're a pig on fuel compared to a 4cyl, but no worse than other 6's. if you get one modded up, make sure it was done by someone properly and not hacked together. auto or manual is your choice.
apart from looking for the usual stuff when in the 2nd hand market, good luck in your search.
also try ausjeepoffroad.com too. usually someone selling a TJ there.

I own a sierra and get 10L/100km every day... a 1.3L engine with at most 47kW when brand new - probably considerably lower than that with age...
Considering that I need to flog the bejesus out of it just to stick to the speed limits (well not quite, but it feels like it sometimes...) I'd be more than happy to pay a 5L per 100km premium to have the extra power, and be able to stick to 100 or 110km per hour! So yeah, it's good to be a little worried about fuel but I think that you need to factor in perfomance and probably longevity as well... (and possibly parts prices and initial purchase costs, which is where the sierra is pretty good)
Nick.
