Jeep Gladiator - Coming to Oz????

Post by V6XtraHilux »

Hey Jeepers,
Have seen alot of stories on the new Jeep Gladiator.

Does anybody know if its a production vehicle or is it still a concept truck??

If its a production vehicle, is it coming to Oz anytime soon?
Will be looking at getting rid of my IFS (soft) Hilux next year and want to trade up to either the Gladiator or a GU.

Heres some pics if no one knows what im talking about.....

mate i have bad news. many of us were gagging for this beast to hit the ozzie coast, but apparently it isn't. DC pulled the pin in the last minute....what were they thinking! :bad-words: They will release a POS 2wd/awd compass and patriot but not this ute? Stupid car markets...i think they are ill informed and dont realise how many Aussies use utes here. Esp. when the new Hilux is turning into a POS soft roader (no offence) in itself, this Gladiotor has the potential to steal that market.

No offence taken Franco, that's why Im opting out of the Hilux (mines actually the previous model to the POS on sale now). Like you said, damn the car markets. Its ridiculous cos when the Hilux came out in V6 and 3L turbo diesel, it sold like hot cakes, so you'd think if Jeep marketed a heavy duty ute up against the Patrol and Defender, it rocket as well.

We'll it took Toyota 10 years (was on sale in US for that long) to realise their mistake with the V6, so perhaps it'll take 10 years for Jeep to realise their mistake also.

I'll have to start looking at the GU then!

they certainly will not produce the gladatior for both the european and Austrailian market if they have no use for it themselves. They cound not see them selves taking the american ute market withthat concept.

The gladiator that you see is a dodge with carbon fibre body on it....they just saw it as too costly to produce for such as small cut of the market. it is shame. i really like the concept.

that looks cool, not sure about the side mount spare wheel carrier - good idea for space saving practicality but looks a bit pox imo. I like the twin hinges for accessing the king cab area behind the seats

the side spare wheel mount was a bit weird at first for me too, then realised its traditional jeep style from the willys days...

I just dont understand it ahat bloke wouldn't want a truck that looks that tough especially when all the new offerings from Asia have been hit with the uggly stick.

If it came with the rubicon drive train choie of Hemi V8 ,CRD or 6 ,4:1 transfer , F & R diff locks and say 33' rubber

AWSOME

let me just say that if that Gladiator came out here in OZ, Id consider selling my 2003 Hilux too and getting that beast. Not enought tough 4x4 utes getting made anymore. Bloody dissapointing isnt it?
