Aust. 4wd Monthly Cliffhanger- Melb. Cup Day
AUSTRALIAN 4WD MONTHLY CLIFFHANGER 4/7th Nov. (Melb Cup Day): This is the events of events for 2006. We have so much installed for this year, making it much more convenient for not only compeditors, but also for spectators as well.
We provide so much more than any other events in the Outback for a third of the price. All prices are inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. Travelling to stages is less than 10km not 100's. Everything is on one property and now you don't have to leave it becuase we also have fuel at base camp. Everyone mixes at base camp, no segregation.
The latest news with the Cliffhanger is that fuel (unleaded & diesel) will be available to purchase at base camp, that's right at base camp. No driving to town. Your base camp can be home for the whole of the event, where showers, toilets, dinner, lunch & breakfast will be given to you. Does any other event offer you this for what we believe is a third of the costs & more off our rivals, yet this event is right up there with the rest.
We also have flights direct to the property, yes flights. Very reseanable prices as well, see the web for details.
Wanting to do the Cliffhanger but finding things a bit tough at the moment. Then why not pay by the month instalments. If your interested then email me on navrun@navrun.com.au or go to our direct Cliffhanger webpage http://www.navrun.com.au/outback.htm and select your payment options, credit card is accepted as well, and the rest is automated via your submission.
No matter what vehicle you drive, we have a class to suit you.
Cheers, Rudi

This event is a must .....the property is awesome....the vibe is great,
you all camp together, have excellent meals provided and last year we swam in the dam...but as Rudi has said, this year there'll be showers.....luxury!
it's also a perfect event to put all your skills to the test, nav'g, winching, the works and give you a taste of what the OBC terrain is all about.
It certainly has it all.......and is also heaps of fun.
The 'classes' also give everyone a chance to have a go, without having to go out and upgrade to challenge class.
Rudi & co run an excellent event and we encourage everyone to support him.

Oh Dear
Oh Dear ! And I just patched things up too with other event organisers... and had a ball even if we did brake on day 1.
Anyway Rudes does have a point - we put a an awful lot into this event and we go all out to look after our competitors ... but maybe we don't draw comparisons.
So, Ruffy a chopped 60... I'm about to chop my 60 too - that is chop it up....

EOM
Berretta, in my game (law trusts) it's end of year on 31 Oct and where will I be? I told em I am on a mission . It's a condition I not be at work that time every year - they must really want me or be really hard up ...
Tell the dudes at work you have phone coverage there and if they must they can charter a plane to come and see you for advice. There is an airstrip which gets used by the postie every week.
I'm going to leave a rig there in the months leading up to the event and fly to/from the property to do preparation weekends. Cheaper than driving the 4skin.
Also working on a helicopter to assist with DVD footage. Sick huh!
Hobzee.

rules
Note that we embrace CCDA and use the competion rules with one exception. If you have synthetic rope you don't need a dampener. You do need a dampener with wire.
We don't follow the CCDA classes or vehicle specs. No nothing about sun roofs, cut off switches, roll bar material, etc. Essentially anyone can enter. I will put some thought into the wording of the classes and put it up here in a day or so. Obviously the lower safety spec cars will not do the sick stuff.

To anyone who is humming and haaing about it, just go you will not be disappointed. Last year was the most fun I have had at an event. Great people, great food and the best comp site in Aus. Ok so last year it cost me a packet because I purchased brawn and a Dog in Broken Hill but it was all worth it. I will be there again this year with bells on. Like I say just do it, even if it is just as a spectator.
Hey Hobzee is there a limit on numbers, and whats the latest we can enter,as i'm strapped for a while since the OBC ( i blew my motor up, replacing this weekend). Can we pay a deposit now and the rest later, i definatley want to do this event.
Cheers Paul

oops, date on entry form on website- forgot to change. (I've been a bad little boy- "Gabbo- The Simpsons)
The event is the Mebl. Cup w/end 4/7th Nov.
The part payment system is working out to be a winner- especially if you are finding things a little tough- by shaving off some of the entry fee it certainly helps till November.

showers are ready to go for this year- we will have 2 of them.
Base camp won't be in the same spot. this year. More likely just past the homestead towards the huge mountain (goat country) range.
Once again all competitors, spectators, marshals, etc all mingle at one base camp.
We will have dieseal and unleaded- will find out soon what type of unleaded as some competitors have requested 98 octane.
Will keep you posted on this.

Just my 2cents worth but due to the quality of some of the fuel in these areas i strongly suggest some form of premium ulp. Thats all we ran at Broken Hill and still got dirty fuel.

Re: EOM
Hobzee looks like we're 95% there, took your advice and had a chat with some people at work to make sure we're covered, entry is in for NFI Racing!Hobzee wrote:Berretta, in my game (law trusts) it's end of year on 31 Oct and where will I be? Clint
Had Clint Leask around today. He is entering is SWB Infinity GQ. Is looking for a Navi so if any one wants a blast in the Clint machine get in touch with him. If you know clint you will know how to find him... otherwise PM me.
One day we'll team up again my friend for sure! I had a lot of fun in the 60, still can't get over some of the stuff you drove in your truck! Especially where our mate in the GQ had to have a winch.....see good navi picked the line and pumped you up and you drove it! What a team!Ruffy wrote: Lost me navi... Twas a good one too
Go the 60! Bring on the chopped 60, see you at Cliffhanger mate its gonna be wicked !
The whole year for Navrun has been outstanding with full houses at almost all our events- we must thank everyone for supporting us for this year.
The Cliffhanger has already doubled last years attendance and it doesn't look like stopping. Cannot wait to get out there- this is by far Hobzees and myself favourite event.
Everything is ready to go, we have the tolilets, showers and even diesel & unleaded fuel ( can be purchased at base camp ) ready to go at base camp. Specators are most welcome, you will be chauffered around the property and are also catered for all your meals.
We always welcome more entries, and would like to see more standard vehicles entering- so come on guys, here is your chance to do an Outback Event which also caters for your everyday vehicle. Unregistered vehicles also welcome.

If i don't pull me finger out i'll be entering in standard!!HeathGQ wrote:I cant enter this year, but hopefully enough of the 'standard' vehicles enter this year to warrant it next year. I am seriously considering this for next year.
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
We have had a lot of emails asking when do the entries close?, can I still enter?, etc.
Entries will remain open to the last minute, but we do prefer you forward your details ASAP as we need to organise quite a bit.

Friday night stage
Planning and set up well under way.
Here's the first stage... Friday Night ...
The poperty is riddled with creek beds similar to outback challenge creeks - sandy & muddy, 12' high embankments and some trees. Presently the main creeks have water in them but expected to be dry (ish) by the time we are there. You will have a 10 minute blast along creek beds and past base camp where spectators can watch from the warmth of the camp fire and within reach of the waeco fridge. Upon exiting the creek (might be tricky) you then have a series of strobe lights in different colours to get to (GPS points given but it's intro night so we make it easy) travelling cross country on virgin terrain before getting back into finish, close to camp.
Spoke to Dale today who bought Cheezy's old black SWB. He's going to compete with the new improved Cheezy machine.
Numbers looking really good.
Stay tuned for more updates daily now.

Sat Night
Saturday night is Tsunami Duck. Named after an eco mishap last year. The billabong near camp last year was knee deep and looked splendid under floodlit lights, the romantic reflection of bonfires on the scerene mirror flat water and the dulcit tones of frogs but then ... alcohol burning, v8 screaming, HID beaming turmoil as teams push for the fastest motorkhana times.
Sick !
