Td42 won't rev
Just another note regarding checking the filter, The banjo fitting will have washers both above it and below it on the bolt.
These are either a steel washer with a gasket membrane on one side to seal the fitting, or a copper washer.
It could be either type as you get both in a seal kit for the pump. I am using the copper ones as there is no membrane to wear out, and they seem to work OK

Hi Guys Sorry I have been away a while since I started this thread.
No I am positive mine does not have a filter in the injector pump as I have carefully slid a piece of wire about 40 mm down inside the pump with no obstruction,I think someone has thrown it away at some stage.
The model of my Patrol is 1988 and it has done 320000km but the pump & injectors have been rebuilt about 80000km ago.
I am interested in the comment about the fan clutch as mine wont cut in and out as my old patrol used to.
I have turned up the diesel on the pump last weekend to see what dif it made
It has a lot more power but will not rev above approx 3000 now
so it must be a blockage of some sort. This is also the most economical Patrol I have seen as it is using approx 1/2 the diesel of the last one although the last one was automatic.

Sounds like injectors are probably due for a service again.Roga wrote:Hi Guys Sorry I have been away a while since I started this thread.

Part Numbers
I have 2 part numbers for the same filter. The Nissan genuine part is actually a bosch part with a Nissan sticker over the Bosch Sticker.
Nissan Part Number is 14371-R8025A
Bosch Part Number is 14612501016N1
Getting the Bosch part is about 1/2 the price of the Nissan part.
Just go to an injector service centre

I don't see why not, but you will need the gauze filter, and the spring which holds it in.cuzza wrote:Is it possible to just buy one and put it in? cuzza
Check out the photo I posted in page 1 of this thread and make sure you checked the right banjo fitting to make sure it is not there.
An injector/diesel service should be able to supply you with the spring, filter, and washers if those above and below your banjo fitting are a bit sus.
Might even get out of it for less than $25.....
Roga, Does your engine sound like it's making a lot of excess fan noise under the hood? Thats what mine sounded like, because the fan was spinning at the same rpm's as the engine. The vicious oil in the fan should heat up after a very short period allowing the fan to spin slower and engine to rev freely(there by not pushing a whole lot of unneccessary air!) Hope that's all it is!
Hey dave, could you post up a pic of the TPS for me??KIWI wrote:I had this problem, and found that it had a faulty TPS. Unplugged it, and it works fine now. My problem was accompanied by black smoke too though.
Dave
I have an electrical fitting on my pump covered in green plastic, is that what yours looked like?
Hold on, i have a picture:
And also an extra circut on my fuel filter housing. BLOODY STRANGE!!!!!
Yep...WALKS wrote:just a quick quetin guys but do i need to bleed the fuel system if i un do this bolt looking for the flter
I pulled the filter out tonight & I can't believe how much better it's running . It's definitely pulling a lot harder than it used to. Whilst the filter didn't seem all that dirty from looking at it, it must have been restricting it beforehand as there's a noticable increase in performance that's for sure ...
More poke = More smoke!!!
ok bringing this thread back to see if anyone knows what the part number is for the spring that goes on top of the small gauze filter. The number that fnqcairns has posted for the filter is a valid one but could not find a picture of it on fast at the nissan dealership for the life of me. The dude there is actually quite helpful most of the time and was suprised to see it come up as valid as he had never sold one before. Because we couldn't find a good pic of it anywhere though we don't have the number for the spring. Anyone know what it is because i want to fit one of these little filters.

I just found this thread and, having delusions of suddenly finding masses of hitherto unknown power, went to have a look on my TD42. Alas, the previous owner has removed the filter and spring I don't know why I'm surprised really.....I've found so many other 'questionable' mods on it since I've owned it. Not least of which were the leopard skin seat covers
