Voltage reader thing

well im looking for a little lcd type screen thing that i can attach to the battery so i can tell the voltage ive got (battery or alt problems).

jaycar sells them for $35

im gonna try autobarn and the like 2morrow

where else can i try and what do you guys have

go to bunnings and pick up a chaep multi meter for 10 bux.

Jaycar has them a lot cheaper then $35 if you are just chasing the basics, here is one for $9.95.

For testing simple things like battery voltages this is fine.

ive got one of those.. does ok i spose.. gives a good indication as well as temp in/out. sometimes i find it goes a bit wak but i just rip it outta the ciggy lighter and ignore it.

i find its good for glowing too.. just count the beeps (glowing takes the battery under teh 11.5v low voltage alert) and your ready to go.. sometimes the beeping freaks people out..

ONLY if its has a lead direct to battery.

dont worry the car wasnt running and id been screwing round fixing and testing my stereo and amp for a few hours.

if you really wanna know whats going on with your battery your gonna need a bit of accuracy. those $10 multimeters from bunnings etc are really shit accuracy.

A digital panel meter is what your after, but if you want accuracy (real accuracy) down to +-0.05volts your gonna pay at least $30

i wasnt after awesome accuracy just a general idea, cause ive had alt problems before (filled with mud) and i had no idea it had stopped working till i coulsnt turn on the car
