Hi Guys,
I need some info please.
I have a 2000 TD5 Disco and am new to light diesels. I have read about water getting into the tank from dodgy fuel or suppliers etc.
I assume that if the 'water' light displays on the dash that there is water in the filter.
My question is how do you drain the filter and is that the filter located behind the rear off side wheel?
Many thanks,
Jack

Draining fuel filter
Moderator: Micka
There are 2 filters, both catch water.
Dont rely on the light to always work.
Drain the one near the r/h rear wheel every service. The plastic nut on the bottom locks up very tight.
Drain down your arm until diesel gives you sore skin, retighten.
Wash down with water.
There is also a drain/bleed on the bottom of the main filter in the engine compartment. Same thing to be on the safe side esp if rear has water in it.
