OK, i have recently been exploring the pro/cons of this and the cost. A few different theories have been tabled including, buying old rims, cutting then fliping the centres in them. Alternatively with old rims cutting the centres and moving, without flipping them to decrease backspace without changing the tyre mounting surfaces from outside to inside.
What i am thinking however is when you go from a 8" wheel to a 10" rim does it add an inch to each side (i think not) or does it push the outer edge 2" outboard? Any experts in this area care to comment?? Or can anyone check if you have both a 8 and a 10 in the same original vehicle spec in mind in the shed?
Alternatively someone can sell me rims already done (Brisbane)!!!

There have been a few threads on this recently. I'm considering similar options. There are hundreds of threads of people giving pro's and con's of wheel spacers vs re welding rims vs axle / hub changeovers.
store.procomp.com.au gives the backspace of each size of rim that they offer which can give you an idea. They also do 15 or 16x8's with an extra 1.25 in backspace off the shelf
i did a little enquiring in to this, and my uneducated thoughts would be either to get some existing rims cut and rewelded or go to mob in sumner park called race engineering who quoted me 150 odd for custom built and backspace rims
