I agree with fitting Nissan running gear. I have a 110 County with 327 chev, nissan auto, nissan transfer case x 2, and am in the process of fitting the nissan diffs & GU steering box, and a very short rear tailshaft. In comp events the nissan running gear will be much more reliable and parts are more readily available - you can flog them off your team mates.

Nah !! Nissans just don't have the same character - just a strong drivetrain.

Plus the wheel base is too long and the centre of gravity is too high - and you would still have to put a chev motor in it anyway!

Plus I'm ex-army - I think they put something in your food to make you like Landies - still hasn't worn off yet.

Is this that dual cab one that was in cheezys workshop a while back? Any pics, it sounds nice.

No this one has never been to Cheezy's. I'm doing all the work myself. And it's not a dual cab - YET. It will be chopped down into a dual cab styleside before a coat of very bright paint - blue, yellow & green. No pictures as yet - never thought about taking any but I suppose I should.

This is a longer term project - not by choice - but because of other jobs in the workshop (paying jobs) that take pniority.

A few other specs. - the 327 produces about 400 horsepower. the auto has been setup with a clutch so that drive can be dissengaged if things go pearshaped on vertical assaults. Rear tailshaft will be made from a Chevy truck tailshaft, with a very strong double cardon joint, mated to the nissan tailshaft flanges. Floorpans are custom made because the handbrake drum actually sits inside the rear floorpan. The vehicle will stay at its existing height which is 5" above standard with Dobinsons coils. I'm still playing with the shock mounts & shocks. Comp tyres ar 36 x 12.5 Centipedes. Street tyres are 285/76/16 General Grabber AT2s. The existing 33x11.5" Simex tyres have plenty of clearance but I may have to cut the guards for the 36s. It will end up wit a full external (FIA approved) rollcage.

It should be a fun truck - but I've a long way to go yet. Will try to get some pics soon.

Thanks Adrian, I may take you up on that offer if I run into any difficulties. Doing it myself is part of the fun though.

Thanks again
