heya all,
anyone herd off the above brand??
I can get them cheap as, just wondering if anyone has used or toyed with them.thinking of the 285/75/r16(32.8") for the patrol.

Definately heard of 'em. They sponsor 4wdTV. The host, Simon was running them and seemed pretty happy with 'em.
Another muddy worth looking at is Sumitomo Serengeti's. I had a set of 33's years ago. Good, cheap mud tyre.
Don't expect either to do what a Simex ET or JT does though, different league.

Don't know anything about the offroad tyres but i do know that NanKangs are the cheapest tyre money can buy. Found out when i went to buy burnout tyres for my Clubsport.
Also have a friend that is a car dealer and he tells me that 90% of car dealers put them on 2nd hand cars to tart them up "new tyres", which i guess is evidence that htey are the cheapest thing going.
Have noticed that people who flog the pisser out of their vehicles and don't care about traction or tyre life - i.e. burnouts, charity rally/bash drivers use them.
One thing i will vouch for is that i've never seen a tyre make more smoke when it starts spinning.
Probably not a bad thing. Means you can get street cred in your 4wd by getting a puff of smoke out of a chirp.

My brother has a set on his zook and loves them....$520 for 4 fitted and balanced. they are 31x10.5 but are about 50mm narrower than my 31x10.5. they are the muddys, are nice and soft, are quiet on the road and seem to be lasting well.

as captain carnage said i run those nangkang mudstars cause i'm cheap... i wont deni it:D. i love em and i'm not goin back to the big names, they are hell tough, they grip better than any tyres i'v had and they still look new even tho i'v done about 5000k's on them, i also have a welded rear and like to use it on and off the black stuff... one thing i have noticed is that they have'nt torn any chunks out at all- for how i drive, that is spinning me out.

where to get them- try over at Yennora, parallel with the train line at a place called BLACKS TYRES- if they dont have them they will get them (they are a nangkang dealer) or point you in the right direction- they are also real cheap and have good service there.
as for them being 50 mm narrower, i dont think it is that much, but they definatly look narrower- maybe cause i run 40 pound in them to keep the locker jiggles and cherps on the low, you be the judge when you look at them.

first trip i drove on them was at gembrook, and a mate couldnt get up this hill on his BFG muddies (i think) and i snatched him up it... from half way up.

iv had these on for about 7 months now under a swb paj. 33x12.5x15 and i rate them pretty well. Havent rotated them yet either and theyre hardly worn. Iv given them hell, and theyre nice and soft and grip well. They do have some slices and dices, no chunks missing at all though, and to m surprise im yet to do a sidewall. Theyre smaller than what they say, 33" actually measures 32" but i can live with it. They dont have much for protection on the sides. They were $178.50 each f+b, thats $714 for 4 x 33x12.5x15 tyres brand new fitted and balanced. Hard to beat and theyre not a bad tyre
ZOOK92, Ace Tyres in Smithfield can definitely get them. The best price theyd give me was $185 ea f+b, but theyre the distributior for them anyways, so i still saved even from the price they gave.

I won a set from the first series of 4wdtv. Have probably done around 30,000kms on them. They do wear probably quicker than more expensive brands and I reckon i will end up getting close to 40,000kms out of them.
For the money I reckon they are unbeatable. On road they are quiet and grip well. I haven't had them in anything really muddy off road but they work well in loose stuff and rocks.

Ive had my nangkangs mudstarts for about 6 months now
and in the mud they are great allso there grippy on dry stuff aswell
now in the 6months its been 96% road use... and i cant pick a wear pattern on em....... they have worn evenly across the lot and ive been flogging the crap of of them every day...... rip snort around the corners to work park em in the gravel car park....... come 4:30pm i drop the clutch and dig up the car park and basicly flog em hard non stop for about a k evey day for that 6 months and not a bad wear pattern in the lot........
only thing i noticed was there sidewalls seem "bulgy" and tend to get abit cut up when doing mud trips.....but i aint burt a sidewall yet and ive got a slice the elngth of ya arm around the tyre and it seems fine
Tho once the road gets wet......... Whoooooooooa thast a intire diff story lol....... from doing 100km on a dry road expect to be doing 80km max......they skate on the road like somthihg chronic and they begin to get noise.....just takes ya abit to get the feeling for thee limitation in the wet...... Tho for the money they sell at....... cant beat em nothing comes close....

My mudstars wheren't noisy at all.. I did rotate mine every couple of months though. Well the way i see it for the same money, you can buy a 2nd set of tyres(possible rims) for around the same price as these things new, from outers/ebay/tradingpost. More than likely you would only get a bfg or goodyear muddy. So i just rekon a new cheaper made tyre probly a better option. At least it will be new and may get 30-40000ks by the looks off preivous posts. It always possible to replace 2 at a time for the upper market brands later on Thats if your not happy with the cheapo's. Espically if you have a smaller budget.
Have had a set on a Delica.There was a tyre comparison on that chanel 4wd show some time ago.They had then said the were one of the better bugget mud tyres on the market.One thing to note was they had said that the were more suited to smaller lighter 4wd`s.Due to being a fairly soft tyre lacking side wall strength and protection.The do have a rounded profile compared to the likes of bfg muds were the tread is very square,wich protects the side wall alot.I choose them because of there rounded profile so the would not foul on the front wheel wells.

mine are also quiet as. I rekon the mudstars are quiter than the cooper sts i had on. I went from a set of JT2s driven daily to these and the difference there is incredible. After some noise get JTs, but these things are quiet, wear well and wear evenly. Im with 4x4 monkey. i drive these things daily and give them a fairly hard time, though i have never had a probelm with mine in the wet. ill sit on the freeway on 110 in the pouring rain, so i dunno about that...
