coil spacers (AGAIN)

Post by monkeyplex »

ok ive found a set of coil spacers for sale. 120 bucks for a set of four. 15mm front, the guy recons 15mm spacers up front will lift it 30mm. Is that because of the IFS right? And obviously 30 mm for the rear. Poly urethene.

Sound alright or what?

Cheers

30mm = about 45mm front

30mm = 30mm in the rear

hunge = $100 give or take a bit. i havent got a price on them lately.

just one thing about keeping things level. if you have a look at the majority of IFS fourbys, they more than likely, have a forward rake. meaning the rear is a lot higher than the front at best of times.

a reason for this is, on larger fourbys, they are designed to carry a lot more weight than suzi's. so when they get loaded up, they are sort of on the level. now, with suzi's being very limited in room, and hwo much load it can take, this doesnt mean much.

vitaras are pretty level stock, and if you load up, the rear will just sag.

but honestly, 15mm isnt anything to be worried about. if the front of your vit is 15mm higher than the rear due to fitting a 30mm spacer, who is going to notice? or who is going to say anything? i sure as hell wont spirit level it.

anyway, the extra 15mm on the front is a good thing. if you decide to fit a bull bar of sorts, being alu, steel, or even a tube bar, you probabaly will find the front sitting lower again due to the weight of the bar. maybe even lower than the rear at normal ride height.

so it doesnt really matter how big the spacers are, 15mm or 50mm, the extra on the front is more welcome than not. plus, you wont need to cut the front guards as much for larger tyres with more lift.

I got 2 x 20mm spacers made for the rear of my GV from Bruce at nbs4x4club.com (probably the same guy as auszookers). cost $52.50 delivered. Should have 15 & 30mm on the shelf, 4 would cost $92.50.
I wanted the rear a bit higher for load purposes, plus extra clearance for towbar etc is no probs with live axle unlike IFS.
A guy on zukiworld.com put the same spacers all round on his GV and it looks VERY silly to me, take a look :

yeah that looks a little weird hey. Well mine is pretty level, i do have a small bullbar up front but it sits mabey 15 mm lower at max. Just out of curiosity what do you think about 30 mm spacers up front and say 50 mm in back, im guessing that would mean longer struts (or mount flip) and longer shocks? How would the CV's go with that?

cheers
