I did read on here ages ago, that someone was told this was a requirement for Patrols and cruisers also. That they should be twin shock setups.
Oh and now that I have started to think about shock handling. I have decided that my front koni's are knackered. They aint doing there thing at all (still better than what was on there though.
Rancho's for my SWB Patrol were too harsh on my 2 inch lift so I decided to get really soft coils and the ride was still bad.
Shocks to get are:-
Bilsteins, Koni, Procomp, Dobinsons and never tried RAW but worth a try I would think. To my knowledge Procomp is the only brand that will do longer shocks for the Landrovers (more travel) that are a great quality.

ive got the ironman foamcells in my bundera and so far im happy with them, they do a good job on and off the road and for the price im not complaining, i think with shocks it will be alot like other topics which is alot of peoples opinions and only you can make your own so choose somthing and give it a go dont like it you can flog the crap out of them till there dead or sell them and get a bit of money back.

Just poke to Tough Dog, they say I shouldn't have the coil dislocate like that and the only shock I can use is fc41397 (532mm) which would stop the coils from coming down the locating cones. While he makes sense that means I then loose some of the travel that I have now :(
I measured the shocks and bottom mount to centre of the top eye is 510mm when stationary. Made a mark where the shock sat then jacked up the car from the centre of the tow bar and distance to the texta mark was a bit over 70mm. Extending a further 20-30mm saw the rear tyres lift, limiting factor appeared to be other geometry (a arm, trailing arms) as shocks still had further extension and springs could dislocate more. Rear springs were dislocated approx 25mm when the shocks were 70mm extended with the coil locators having a further 200mm of space.

rancho's are shit, i had them on my first GU
when they died and I went looking for warrenty, i was told i should be running dual shocks per corner on a 6" lifted GU in 2000
Has anyone used Gabriel Blue Ryder? i got s set cheap to get me out of trouble for a while, and so far they seem ok. but i havnt really taken it off road yet. only time will tell i guess.
