Trip to Fraser

Gday all, I'm from Vic an have a big lifted zuke on 33's. I'd like to do a trip to Fraser Island but have heard the laws are much stricter up in QLD regarding lifts and tyres etc. My car is fully engineered down here. Can anyone foresee me running into any problems with the filth up there.

assuming that it passes roadworthy in your home state, you can drive all over australia.

Key points are that it must be roadworthy, if it's engineered but you have a cracked taillight they can still ping you for the taillight.

the problem arises when you move interstate and try to keep your original states reg.

I am currently investigating whether i can reg my car in New south wales as i am a registered itinerant for voting purposes of no fixed address.

That's is quite interesting that you say that if it is road worthy in your home state it is road worthy all over Aust. I was in a brand new merc whith my uncle who had just bought the car in vic and we were driving to noosa. We were pulled over in QLD because it had a clear cover over the number plate. My uncle told the cop that he drove it out of the mercedes showroom like that and the cop just said , "Oh well, thet's not legel in QLD ", and gave him a fine.

as rockcrawler says, providing you reside in VIC and its regoed in VIC, I cant see how you can get done for anything providing its in roadworthy condition for your state.

Pretty much if that worried, carry your engineeres cert in the car and if you do get pulled over show it to them and they cant get you for anything except fo bald tyres etc!

Not sure about Melbourne but i know it runs Sydney to Brisbane. Ring Queensland Rail

This is all I could find on the Queensland Rail website. Motorail only seems to go between Brisbane and Cairns.
Any other operators that go from Sydney to Brisbane? I can only seem to find road transporters that want $1000 from Syd-Bris

try a truck frieghting company. bloke who brought my shorty got it shipped up to brissy pretty cheap from melb. Kings I think

mate we are one of the sunshine coasts biggest exporters (except sugar) and have semi's going to melb frequently. the dearest way is melb bris as most stuff is sent north. the best price i could get was from memory $600 to melb for a falcon wagon. so would be at least $1000 back north.

why not save the hassle and fly / hire a zook. cheaper and you gain a few days relaxing

I did run a zook through it and it quoted $743 - Melbourne to Brisbane. The return trip for the zook was $510

This website says there is no car transport train services Melbourne / Sydney and Sydney / Brisbane.
