gq creaking noise in axle area

Post by blade828 »

When i turn either left or right i hear a creaking noise coming from the front of my gq wagon. It also creaks/clunks when going over bumps sometimes. I got a mate to sit in it and turn the wheel left and right while i got under the front to see where the noise is coming from. I cant exactly pin point where the sound is coming from but it seems to be in the area around the end of the axle's before the wheels, i can also feel the vibration of the creaking through my panhard rod. Bolts on the panhard are done up tight and there is plenty of oil in the diff. Anyone had anything like this before?

jump under and "roll" your steering links in your hands, at a minimum regrease, if its badly "notched" then replace

what sort of bushes are you using in your panhards? i had a similar noise, and could feel it in the panhard, turned out the poly bushes were shot, replaced with genuine rubber and problem gone,

It'd be worth checking all the bolts in the front end especially if they've been loosened recently, then if all your bushes are good, check your swivel [ kingpin ] bearings & wheel bearings.
