Bundera Running Gear - Who has done it?
Bundera Running Gear - Who has done it?
Okay boys and girls.
I have just purchased a Bundera to use the running gear under my Sierra. Just looking for anyone that may have done the same thing. What problems did you face and any tips on what can be done to make it better? Any hints or tips would be mostly appreciated.

Front diff is High pinion i think, But shouldnt be a problem as the factory tie rod runs behind the housing and under the centre. Rear is offset as said, so should help with drive train vibes.

I have a feeling that the diff might have to be moved forward a little because of the tie rod behind the axle. The tie rod should be fairly low though, so you might get away without moving it forward, but why not do it anyway. Better for clearance running bigger tyres (i believe you are running some wide 35s on this?) EDIT: i forgot to mention the reason I think the diff may have to go forward, it is because of oil pan clearance.
If you do move it foward a bit I am pretty sure you are going to have to look at moving the steering box too. I'm pretty sure the panhard is in front of the axle, so you will need clearance between that and the drag link.
Another thing to look at is the length of your pitman arm compared to the length of the steering arm (the one that the draglink connects to) on the knuckle. Measure from the centre of the kingpin to the centre of the tie rod end hole. If these are too far different then you wont get full lock. Options would be to get a long pitman arm (I don't know of another pitman that would work) or go to a Hilux IFS box or similar.

Once again I must thank Damo for his lengthy input. Good to see your always thinking mate. Obviously there wil be some tweakig involved to get everything lined up and working properly. Actually moving the diff forward will be less benifical to sump clearance as the 4A engine uses a front bowl sump. It cleares the front axle just nicely in its stock location. I'm more afraid of clearing the 35's than the sump. Anyway just another thing to deal with when it comes up.
I will be keeing the coil setup, thats the whole reason for going Bundera in the frst place. Of course the coils will be a little on the stiff side but King Springs will come to the rescue here with any spring rate/length I require.
Cant wait to get it underway.

If nothing else you can use the one you have to mock it all up and put a Bundy PS box on there later. Though it would probably be easier to find IFS Lux/60/80 series stuff.
