The Original Selectable Locker Reaches a Production Milestone
ARB has recently celebrated the sale of its 100,000th Air Locker to Mr. Roger Godfrey of Melbourne, Victoria Australia. To commemorate this milestone event, ARB's Corporate Marketing Manager, Matt Frost, presented Mr. Godfrey with a plaque and several newly released ARB accessories. ARB has been equipping 4WD vehicles with Air Lockers for over 16 years, meeting the challenge of providing 100% traction on demand without sacrificing on-road performance.
Mr. Roger Godfrey, who was thrilled to learn that he had purchased the 100,000th Air Locker in August 2003, has been a long-term ARB customer for over 10 years. .
Mr. Roger Godfrey, who was thrilled to learn that he had purchased the 100,000th Air Locker in August 2003, has been a long-term ARB customer for over 10 years. He has owned several vehicles in that time, which he has equipped with ARB accessories, "believing in their durability, reliability and value for money". His current two vehicles include a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Hummer, as shown.
Originally known as 'The Roberts Diff Lock' after the inventor Tony Roberts, it was renamed the ARB Air Locker in 1988. Tony Roberts' background lay in aircraft engineering and he was an avid recreational 4WD enthusiast who started working on the concept back in the early to mid 1980s. Its development process began with the Air Locker being vacuum operated with subsequent mechanisms being trialed. The final prototype was based on compressed air operation and has evolved from incorporating only five applications to well over one hundred.
Today the ARB Air Locker is sold in more than 80 countries worldwide and has a strong reputation for its quality and dependability. What gives it this standing within the market place is its proven, reliable, patented design, with structural components made from high grade alloy steel contributing to its tested superior strength. The advantage of the ARB Air Locker lies in the pneumatically operated locking system inside the differential. When activated, the Air Locker prevents the differential gears from rotating and therefore prevents the axle shafts from turning independently of each other.
An ARB Air Locker is a tested, trusted and tough way of safely navigating difficult terrain, as Mr. Godfrey can attest to. For more information, please contact us.

I have a roberts locker but standard rear axles????? I've never heard of this before.bad_religion_au wrote:careful with those roberts lockers, you need an axle shaft with longer splines on one side (can't remember which side) so if your throwing it in a different model cruiser, make sure you can source one
