Coily Guages No go after conversion

Post by NiXoN »

Greetings Folks,
Well she's finally running (G16 16v TBI conversion)!!!!!
http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopi ... highlight= .

 Woohooooooo!!

But before i go racing around the streets....and hills, theres the matter of a few things not behaving in the dash!
These are:
Oil Light (not on when ignition is turned on)
Temp Guage (not moving after 10 minutes running)
Taco
Fuel Guage (sitting at top of guage)

I am most interested in the temp guage to make sure all is well in the cooling system!
I realise there could be about a thousand places to look for bad earths etc etc, Just wanted to see if anyone had any clues that will make my search, (and pending return to the land of the mobile) easier/quicker.

I can happily report, after many many head F*%ks, that it sounds sweet!

Many many thanks,
Rob

temp gauge

have you reconnected the temp gauge wire? or does it run through the ecu for a previous thermo fan?

A guage showing overfull usually means the sender wire is direct to earth, or sender is stuffed, or wrong? Sender unit in tank may be jammed or wrong, too?

Hokay,

Oil light sorted!
Can anyone tell me what the wires that go into the Temp and fuel gauge do? Theres 3 in each, and 2 of these are common, whilst the 3rd (on each gauge) head off to the respective sender.
Also, what is the Taco set-up on the coily? Constant positive and a pulse from the neg on the coil?

Cheers :)
