v8 and auto into a gu

Post by vorno_18 »

ive been reading the other thread on putting a v8 into a gq and just wanted to ask a couple more questions

i want to use my auto as well and adapt it to the transfer, can this be done

i would rather auto and the fact ive just spent 2.5 grand on it i want to use it. does anyone no if marks do this kit and a rough price, i read the conversion kit for the gq using the nissan box was about 3 grand im guessing it will be similar

im gonna call marks next week when i get s chance but just wanted to hear if anyone has tried this yet?

thanks

im using a fully rebuilt 304 injected motor, twin tb manifold, solid cam, microtech computer, around 300hp at the wheels.

the gu is a 2.8 turbo diesel, the engine is buggered so im pulling the v8 out of my vq caprice

great idea :)

you can get a adapter kit to mate the th700 upto the gq transfer from marks.

you have to change the mainshaft in the transmission with the one marks supply though.

you will have to put large rubber on your truck though as it will rev its tits off on the freeway with 4.6's and origional rubber.

im wanting to go 38 or 40s so the diffs will only be a problem for a little while

got some prices off the net, didnt think they would have them on the net, and i was just wondering about a couple parts

do i need the wiring interface, i have a microtech not the standard computer, what does the nissan computer control other then the engine?

has anyone fitted standard headers fine or do i need block hugger headers

you dont need a wireing interface, you just need to connect the oil, temp, alt and auto inhibitor wires up. ( its eASY)

standard headers would work, huggers work also.

Why would you want to use standard headers :?
And if the cam kicks in at 3k ....I guess you're gonna break more than normal. Deep pockets?
Is it turbo or supercharged......post pics

i dont want to ive just heard that some model headers dont fit, which then i would have to buy a set of block hugger headers

cam ranges from 1600-6000 and i have a 2200 stall in it

was going to be supercharged but i had to many bills and sold the charger

i cant post pics but ill try
