hi all
a mate of mine has some cable lying around from a 415v power lead. would one 'phase' of this cable be ok for 12volt fridge supply wiring. the od of the cable and insulation is approx 7-8mm.
also when running power leads from the 2nd battery to the fridge, do you have to run an earth wire to the fridge as well? or do you just earth the sockets at the rear of the vehicle?
cheers

cable suitability?

not knowing the power consumption of the fridge, i would guess that it should be ok. Factors that need to be taken into consideration are:
1. is the cable a flexible cable (how many strands of copper [there should be heaps if its flexible, like a speaker wire])
2. how does it connect to the fridge (is the cable terminal on the fridge large enough to terminate the cable into it properly so as it wont work loose)
3. make sure you get a fuse holder that will allow you to terminate that cable into it.
Do you know what the current rating is on the fridge??? you should be able to get this onfo off the manufacturers website using the model number of the fridge.
