1st off my zook is a daily driver and my only car, it gets driven to and from events and pushes my financial limits enough as it is. Maybe I shouldn't be competing in it, at least if I was in a club like yours where points take priority over everything else. But in my club we do what we can to help each other and have fun doing it, it's not all about points. I personally know at least 3 cars which have had their engines screwed up because of the mud events in the last year, and I wasn't gonna be the fourth, not this weekend anyway. Our club also AFAIK didn't have any other cars to drive in this event this year, we didn't have a reserve after one car broke on the saturday either, however we managed to reorganise in a way to get another car to take the cars place, and they didn't drive the mud either for similar reasons to mine I beleive. I like to think I have a very supportive club with great people in it, and I do what I can get points up and help with anything I can. But, I'm not gonna drive something that could ruine my car for the sake of 10-20 points. When and/if I oneday can afford to have another car and trailor to tow my junk to events then it will be driven much harder including the mud.

The que jumping will always be a problem. We tried the number thing but there would be hold ups on one event and they would be pushed onto the next one to keep things moving. People break things and can't get back in line. Its hard. With the running order we consider this the fairest. Some of the events get easier, some get harder. It wouldn't be fair the last club all scoring bad cause the event got very difficult later on in the day. As it is the first car from each team will go to event #1, the second cars to #2 etc.
What I'm am saying is there has to be some sort of system to start.
It just goes to pot as the weekend goes on. I'm not saying what you did was wrong. Its just what happens but there has to be some resembalance of order to start with and we think this is the fairest. I am open to suggetions.

I/we had a excellent weekend.
our 1st event was event 4 under the powerlines.
5 points and no lockers.compresser was rooted.
navvy tried to fix it and we went to our 2nd event(event 1)
where we waited 2 hrs and get to the start line and the compressor
doesnt work. we take it back to camp and change compressors.
brought a spare.
after this we drove average or above in all other events

i believe its between the driver and his club , if the club doesn't mind (as there there for fun and a bit of competion ) than pulling out of any event is left to the driver/navi , simple as that . if on the other hand the club is deadly serious about club points and not so much individual points that that is again between the club and the driver no one else .
i competeed back in 2004 and stuffed my engine and wasn't going to run the mud this year due to this fact and the fact that the engine is hardly run in yet , i did drive it though soley because i choose to and being a mechanic etc i thought there is no reason why i carn't drive it this time with out hurting the engine if i take a little care first and prep it properly . all went well but its soley between the club you are competing for and the driver noone else . hell by people not driving the mud that makes my dismall points look not as bad considering i was the ONLY car that couldn't even get into the TREES REVENGE TRACK (bloody small tyres/logs/rain/big rigs all day beforeme ) I SUX !
but was a fun week end all in all next time i will have bigger rubber for sure .

Being entered as part of a team means just that: part of a team. I believe there are very few clubs who are focussed on 'the points'; we are all there for a good time, and to have a go. And it's not just those within your own club that will help out, there's been plenty of times where our club has helped others and visa-versa.
However, ultimately it is every individual's choice to do what they want, after all, it's their car. You don't want to do such and such an event, then fine. Your choice.
But let's face it, the Trials have been in this format for a number of years now (i.e leaning more towards hardcore wheeling - pun intended ), and those that compete regularly know what it's about. They also know about breakages, and prepping their rigs. Perhaps if the Trials are not your thing, there are other comps to have a go in.
My biggest thing is people that either (a) don't stay with their vehicle (or at least nearby watching) to move it up, (b) they lock it and take their keys with them. If you get to know who's in front, behind and so on, we all watch out for each other, so nobody's gunna flog your car.
Enough of that then.....

okay, how about we all get off with whining band wagon, and talk about how our weekends went, where you went well, and where you didnt, this was meant to be a fun time,
ill start
We were car number 1, so we were the first to drive, startin with event 1,
Event 1 -BIG W- as we were car one, we were first off, we had a fairly easy drive and managed to pull up resting on out chassis rails at the 85 point marker,
Event 2 -Maquarie 4x4 Round-a-bout- Cancelled due to accident,
Event 3 -Pro Comp Criss Cross- we went of taking it easy, as we got to the 50 point marker we ended up breaking a CV, we ended up getting to the 65 point marker where the logs pushed us towards the bunting, we couldnt pull it back casue we were lacking drive,
Event 4 -4x4 Australia Off road Adventure- as we attacked the first big climb, we managed to get just over the tree root at the top, where the carby ran out of fuel, i tried pumpin the throttle to get us up, but this failed and we ended up sliding back to the bottom, scorsing 5 points,
Event 5 -Hi Tech Automotive Stairway- we managed to crawl our way to the 30 point mark, where we couldnt grab traction, but hey, we had fun
Event 6 -ARB Trees Revenge- we wnt into this one thinkin we'd aim for the 60 points at least, wo took a fairly steady drive into it, as we had seen a couple of truck flop at the 5 point marker, we had a fairly sweet drive, with the logs pushing us to the left, then back to the right, we managed to crawl out at the 100 point mark, we were stoked,
Event 7 -Mannel Motors Mine field- after watcin a feww trucks drive we picked our line, we headed in and ended up stopped at the 70 point mark, which we were fairly happy with,
Event 8 -Offroadimages Swamp run- We only saw a Jeep and a Hilux run it, so we went in hoopin the Carby motor would pull us through, as we got towards the end, we looked at the big climb out, it was a large vetricle step, we put the front up, and gassed it, the back end bounced up the 38's were biting on the top lip, when the carby again ran out of fuel, and we fell back in, but couldnt get it back out, so anyways, we pulled 99 points.
so we ended up with about 454 points out of 700 we were fairly happy with the 4th drive of the truck,

I was navi in car number 19, and virtually standard (actually, lower than standard!) with 32" simex's. The driver bought it a few weeks back for $500 (stuffed motor), and buys a motor off ebay for a measly $1. The he tells me on the way out to the event: "gee, I hope 4WD works, I've never actually engaged it!" We were the fifth in line, starting on event 3.
Event 3 -Pro Comp Criss Cross- Nice start, 4wd working (thank GOD!), get around the first loop, to get stuck on a boulder in the middle 5 pts.
Event 4 -4x4 Australia Off road Adventure- to quote ozy1: "as we attacked the first big climb, we managed to get just over the tree root at the top, where the carby ran out of fuel, i tried pumpin the throttle to get us up", we did a carbon copy, but didn't slide back too far, just got a nice lean on my side. 5 pts.
Event 1 -BIG W- Big delay due to the incident, so we had plenty of time to think about it. Brilliant navigating saw us past 5 pts (woo hoo!), charged over the rock before the lollipop man turned the sign around. After a short delay, down the hill, over the log, started up again and lost traction, hung up on a pebble. 40 pts.

Event 7 -Mannell Motors Minefield- the red MQ in front of us gave us no hints, so it was basically momentum or nothing for us. Got to jsut short of 30 when we went 3/4 way over, drivers side this time. Gave Miss Wendy my camera for some famous pics. 20 pts.
Event 8 -Offroadimages Swamp run- About 3 litres of WD40 later, we were ready. Then we saw the flat tyre (had to happen, with the whole weight of the car pushing on the sidewall in the wombat hole). Tyre changed in 4 minutes, back in line and into it. Great line through the first part, fell into a hole, stopped at 68 pts.
Event 5 -Hi Tech Automotive Stairway- we managed to BOUNCE our way to the 30 point mark, where we bounced out, but hey, we had fun too! 30 pts

Not a great total, but we had a go at everything and came through relatively unscathed.
Now to work on the 4Runner....

i had a great weekend, didnt quite get the results i was hoping for, but did gain more experience for future events. personally i hate the mud, and id like to see it get scrapped and replaced with some other event, and im sure that there is heaps of others that would agree with me. Mud sux, my rig survived everything else, alternator is now cactus and radiator needs removing and cleaning. it might be amusing for spectators but i reckon it does more damage than other events. IF YOU HATE THE MUD EVENT, POST UP AND LET THE ORGANISORS NOW ABOUT IT, if there is enpough people that would like to see it scrapped then maybe Miss wendy will take note and replace it with something else. the mud at the trials is evil, its full of sand that rips seals to bits, grinds in brakes and clogs everything, i can sort of understand why some guys give it a miss, its fawked my rig 2 years in a row, but if they dont scrap it, i will still run it again next year, will just yhave to budget for an alternator rebuild

Yeah Nem, I know what you mean. Something that's more the Willowglen style; sort of what you might find out on a track, rather than driving through, around and in a dam. Problem is with the Trials is they can only work with what's on the SORRA property, which they hire, they don't own it.
As for you Mac, you can't say that about my driver, unless of course you've actually felt it and squeezed them

IMHO mud, deep water, is all part of four wheel driving so if you enter in a FOUR WHEEL DRIVING COMP thats what you get maybe comps should have both mud and deep water crossing's BRING IT ON

Can you imaging what it would have been like in the 4WD pioneering days in the outback, in the '50's and '60's, days and weeks of conditions worse than what we endure for about an hour over a weekend, and they had to bush-repair everything??
