Hi Lift jack prices / places to buy

Saw a Hi Lift jack in Supercheap last weekend, $100 down from $120. Went back to buy it yesterday and it has gone back up to $120 :bad-words:

$100 seemed pretty reasonable to me, but then, I've really got no idea. What is the going rate for a hi lift jack? Are there cheapies which should be avoided or anything? Any ideas where else to go looking for one?

I have had 2 'cheap' hilifts,

The HiLift branded original's are a lot better, and worth the extra few $$ in my opinion.

What's a cheap hi lift worth? Whats a real HiLift worth? I really have no idea - just thought $100 seemed okay from what I could see.

We sell the Genuine HiLift for $159

You can get cheap ones around $100-120

i had a cheap one and it was shit, all the pins kept jamming up and sometimes it would not go up or down. i then brought a proper highlift and it works a treat! pay the extra it is well worth it.

i picked up a genuine Hi lift at the Wandin show for $100...what a bargain... I was thinking of getting a cheapy but for the extra buy an original.... you don't want your hi lift failing on you

i got a genuine hilift been around the family and friends for awhile. was a bit stiff but a little oil on the pins and joints. and its as good as new. if you wanta decnt one wait for rays outdoors sale they have them all time and sell black rat brand.

Definately pay the extra for a real one. I had a hihg lift jack but got stolen :bad-words:

and then i got a super cheap one and its a heap of $h1t.

Even when using my "genuine hi-lift" I find myself crossing my fingers and hoping that it won't turn around and whack me. Even the best (genuine) are a dangerous tool and I wouldn't risk using any inferior brands. Just ask POS and Punchy how dangerous a hi-lift can be.

Yup its not just the cost of replacing the jack, but the cost of 2 teeth hey mate. And that was with a "genuine hi-lift" :(

I can't remember the figure but I know that Punchy's dental bills were MUCH more than the cost of the jack!

Buy the genuine Hi lift got mine fron the 4x4show at the arb stand for 100 bucks ....

didnt know black rat made one
u can get some really cheap ones for bout 60 bucks but it aint worth it
if u compare a genuine and a cheapy u can tell the differenece side by side
the cheapy are really shitly made

I bought a mean green one and it is the biggest piece of crap in the whole world! It won't go up, it won't go down... you have to spend more time repairing it on the trail than the truck.

I have a genuine Hi-lift brand and one thing I always carry when wheeling is a can of CRC.
Hi lifts, cheap or real ones, need lotsa lube!

I would never buy a cheapy though. Go the original and the best.

That's gotta hurt. High lifts are a bit shaky at the best of times. I had a mate try to lift his car off the towball with a hilift :shock:

You can pick them up at tthe Wandin Show 4 $ 100.00 as bill stated and i think the Black Rat 1 from Rays Outdoors is about $ 140.00 (not sure of correct price so don't quote me on it ) they have 4 sale a lot of the BlackRat Product Range. But as with anything i pays to Shop around

Maybe a moly based grease would be better in this application?

Problem is when they get dusty and grit gets in the grease.
I just carry the CRC and just give it a good soak before I use it to wash out the dust and crud and lube it up.[/quote]

i have a $90 super-cheap hi-lift that's saved my ass on many occasions

i think my pins have a slight bend in them which makes them jam up but i've found that a screwdriver to pry them open or a soft slap of the handle on the i beam usually makes the pin pop out again

i have no problems with mine and i have begun teaching the scout kids how to use one for lifting and pulling

if this one breaks i'll buy a genuine one at the next 4wd show
